My coach recommended The Soul of Money by Lynne Twist five years ago to help me explore my scarcity mindset around money. Thanks to a book club, I finally finished it - slowly.
The book is not an easy read. It is full of poignant, heart-wrenching stories that challenged my beliefs about money and all earthly resources. Lynne provides no quick tips or how-tos. Some days my desire to hoard money even grew.
In chapter three, Lynne shares, "In the mindset of scarcity, our relationship with money is an expression of fear; a fear that drives us in an endless and unfulfilling chase for more." Undoing this survival mechanism will be a continuing practice for me.
My most significant learning is that "when we take a stand that expresses our soul's commitment, it is empowered with the courage of the heart."
If you are looking for a new perspective around money or exploring your beliefs around resources and money flow, this book is for you.
